People chained to trees. A woman falls into the fire and nobody helps her. In Burkina Faso, there is no place in traditional society for people with mental illness and epilepsy. Demons are seen as the cause of the illnesses many people fear contracting. Those affected live on the outskirts of the villages, in prayer centers or wander around unnoticed, often chained up or beaten. But Pastor Guitanga and Nurse Tindano are courageously committed to medical treatment, freedom and human dignity, contrary to the beliefs of an entire society, within the scope of their modest means.
